Joined Dec 9, 2009. 1,930 Posts. #5 路 Nov 30, 2010. yes, find a 96-98 grand cherokee with 4.0L 4wd laredo they have 2wd/pt4wd/ft4wd/4lo. the 231 is from the square body cherokee it has 2wd/4hi/4lo. LOOK for a red tag on the back of the transfer case it will tell you 231/242/249. there is a thread that explains it all and shows you how to do it.

The PT transfer case is not an option. Once I built it I clicked on more info in the transmission section and made that discovery.

So i sold my wrangler and cherokee about 8 mos ago and bought a 2k bravada. The bravada should be ashamed to have the gm logo on it. It is a serious POS. I found a guy that will trade me almost even up on a 96 grand cherokee with 195k on it, a v8 and full time 4wd.
